Everyday Is Launch Day

Every Sunday morning before services start at Lifepointe Church some of us and the volunteers gather together and pray for the day.  We pray for each other, for those who are serving today, for those who will walk in the doors and we pray for God to meet us in that place.  During this time yesterday I encouraged everyone to treat everyday we meet as if it was Launch Day.

I think it would be really easy for us to become quite satisfied that we have started a new church and that we got our first few gatherings under our belt.  It would be really easy for us to get into a rhythm of just “doing church,” because, from the outside, it seems like that’s what we’ve been working towards.  But that’s not who we want to be.

We want to be a place where it’s hard to get comfortable…and no I’m not talking about the barstools we have for people to sit on on Sunday 😉  As much as we want people to feel welcome and encouraged while they are at LPC on Sundays, we want to challenge everyone, myself included, to live out what we learn on Sundays.  Sundays are great, but Monday through Saturday is when rubber meets the road, when real life happens and when you see the impact that the gospel can have on someone’s life.

Why treat everyday like launch day?  Because we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow, so we should be thrilled at the opportunity we have to connect people to God each and everyday…not just on Sunday.
